A guide for closed-beta testers. Skim what's useful; the structure is here for people who prefer a script over free play.

What's shipping right now

The current build is a general-purpose Android gallery: browse, view, and organize photos and videos from any camera app. When photos come from Halation Camera, bursts and timelapses group into single grid stacks; when they don't, they show as ordinary photos. Everything else on the roadmap — in-app editor, ML-based search, locked folder, backup export — is not shipped yet.

Available

• Browsing. Sticky month sections, pinch-to-zoom column density, fast-scroll with a date bubble, motion-photo press-and-hold playback, EXIF viewer, share-sheet from the viewer.
• Organizing. Albums with add/rename/remove, favorites, move-to-folder, mark-as-utility (for receipts and screenshots), auto-generated time-cluster reels.
• Halation-aware grouping. Bursts and timelapses from Halation Camera collapse to a single grid cell that expands to the frame list on tap.

Not yet implemented (please don't report as bugs)

• Editor. Crop, rotate, and exposure adjustment are the tier-1 editor scope for a later phase. If you tap "Edit" from the viewer overflow today you'll find nothing.
• Search and face clustering. Object labels, OCR, and face detection are Phase 5. The only search dimension today is date range, via the filter sheet.
• Locked folder and backup export. Both are designed but not built. Nothing in the app UI hints at them yet.

How to test

Two shapes work; pick whichever fits your style, or combine them.

• Daily driver for a week or two. Use Halation Gallery in your actual routine. This surfaces surprises that a scripted session misses.
• Dedicated sessions from the checklist below. Structured coverage of specific features.

Checklist

Grouped by area. Cover what you can; nobody expects the full list from every tester.

Browsing

• Scroll the grid. The pinned month header at the top should switch as you cross section boundaries. Grab the fast-scroll thumb on the right edge and drag — the date bubble should track the top-visible row.
• Pinch to change column density. Anywhere between 1 and 6 columns. The setting persists across app restarts.
• Open the viewer, swipe between photos, pinch to zoom on an image, and press-and-hold on a motion photo to play its embedded video.
• Open the filter sheet from the top bar. Try a date-range preset ("This month", "This year"), and toggle photo-type between All / Photos / Utility.

Organizing

• Create an album from the viewer overflow, add a few photos, then long-press the album to rename it. Deleting the album should not delete the photos.
• Open the Reels tab. Auto-clusters should read as sensible "photo shoots" — tight bursts split into their own reel, sparse days merge into a single reel. If a boundary looks obviously wrong, that's worth reporting; the density heuristic has open edges.
• Move a photo to another folder from the viewer overflow. Confirm it appears in the target library after the MediaStore rescan.
• Mark a screenshot or receipt as "utility." Toggle the filter to Photos-only and confirm it disappears; toggle to Utility-only and confirm it's the only thing left.

What to report

• Anything that crashes, freezes, or produces a wrong-looking result.
• Any control that felt confusing to find or use.
• Anything you'd expect an app in this category to do that Halation Gallery doesn't (worth checking against the Not-yet-implemented list first, but if it isn't there, we want to know).

How to report

Email gallery@orezeno.app. There's no in-app crash reporter yet, so please include: your device model and Android version, a short description of what you did, and what happened vs what you expected. A screenshot or screen recording is gold when it's easy to grab; otherwise plain text is fine.

Feature ideas or UX feedback that isn't a bug can go to the same address — no need for repro steps for those.

Every crash caught in testing is one fewer crash a stranger hits on the production listing. Device coverage across manufacturers matters most; hardware-specific quirks are usually device-specific, and each tester on a different phone genuinely helps.
